This large bird is so elegant and beautiful. They can be seen daily in the Skagit Valley area hunting in rivers, drainage areas and out in undisturbed fields. They frequently stand up to four feet tall with a wing span of seven feet or more. They wait patiently thereby providing plenty of time to study them. This was such fun to create.
You can find Phyllis' work on display year round at the Whatcom Art Market located in Bellingham's historic Fairhaven district at 1314 Twelfth Street, Bellingham, WA (Open daily from 10am to 6pm). Thank you Ivana for the comments. I really love adding just a touch of color to the graphite. It makes the piece more artist in that I select where to place extra emphasis and that changes it from an illustration to an artist rendering in my mind at least! I see we like some similar subject matter. Love your cosmos & Chocolate.
